First, I would like to tell you that, in general, classic books are the ones that attract me most, and even if there aren't so many books I have read, they haven't ceased to amaze me. This book, despite being a classic, it doesn't abuse of descriptions like the others; Frances has a detailed and relaxed way of describing settings, environments and characters. Which gives rise to incredible thoughts and quotes in the story. The main theme or plot is the development with the family relationship, relationship with the nature, and with the other people in general. As the development of the personalities of Mary and Colin (his cousin). Almost at the end, like in the last two chapters, the reading became a bit heavy, but the suspense and the desire to know what will happen didn't let me surrender.
"One of the strangest things in life is that only from time to time, it feels like it will live forever. This feeling sometimes feels like the sun rises and the pale soil begins to change color. The sun Rises with a majesty that does not change, as it has done for thousands of years, and only for a moment you experience that feeling "
There comes a time in the book where you really feel a magic, and I don't mean the events in it, I mean that it is so deep what Burnett writes that you really feel that joy of being inside the story.
I give it 4/5 stars, because despite having good plot, theme, characters, settings, and above all a good story, I think that it could have been better in the end. However, now I consider it one more on list of my favorite classic book.
